While the measures undertaken by our community have resulted in a very low number of recorded cases in Townsville, and no new recorded cases in over a week, the TTF Executive Committee fully support the decision by Touch Football Australia to extend the suspension until early June and regard it in the best interests of our community.
The TTF Executive committee are currently developing several strategies to conduct touch football competitions once the suspension is lifted, in particular our Colliers Shield men’s and women’s competitions, and will work with teams and clubs as soon it is appropriate to do so.
With players across the district doing their best to keep fit during the break, we wish to remind everyone to do so safely and within the current guidelines advised by the state and federal health departments.
We encourage all of our members to reach out to those who may be in need during this time. While it may not be always be possible to physically spend time with your friends and family, we’re pleased to see that many of our community are going out of their way to check-in with each other via phone, video, and social media.
The current situation has given an opportunity for some of our true community heroes to rise to the occasion, demonstrated so well most recently by members Beau King and Stacey Lyon, who donated over $6500 worth of supermarket vouchers to those in need.
TTF wishes to again thank our community for their support during this time and are looking forward to seeing everyone back and running around at Queens Park this year.
